Transportation Shift Report 2024
Transportation Shift (TS) involved a series of community conversations led by local partners across Canada and took place between February 2023 – March 2024. Transportation Shift was motivated, in part, by the Federal mandate that all new light-duty cars and passenger trucks sold in Canada after 2035 be zero emissions.
“Affordability and infrastructure barriers make electric vehicles a tough sell in Canada’s northern and rural communities, where many feel the EV push is deeply out of touch with socio-economic, environmental, and cultural realities on the ground. The Transportation Shift talks revealed much common ground, but also great divides in the way Canadians view the EV transition. The sessions spotlighted the need for conversations that are less about cars, of any kind, and more about how people actually live.” The Energy Mix
