Energy Mix Productions is a community news organisation committed to faster, deeper carbon cuts and is the co-lead of the GRP, which began as a series of community conversations hosted in 2021-22 on climate change, income insecurity and community resilience.
It isn’t usual for a news organization and a community development initiative to co-exist under the same organizational roof. The Energy Mix has included the GRP in news coverage, and now, we’re taking this integration a step further.
We are focusing on opportunities to connect independent news reporting with front-line listening. The guiding objective is to inform a broader response to the urgent challenges posed by climate change, while building trust and common ground to counter the wave of misinformation that stymies progress on a host of overlapping community priorities.
Our plan includes:
- Focusing on GRP partnerships in communities where there is organic interest in conversations;
- Producing in-depth feature reporting informed by those dialogues, researching and diving deep into interconnected issues;
- Offering community members the space and support to share their stories of resilience and local climate solutions.
